Hardwood floors are always an excellent choice if you can invest money in their installation and time in their upkeep. If however your budget doesn't allow for a pure hard wood floor, consider a laminated floor. It's cheaper than oak, cherry or maple and looks close enough to the real thing. Plus, it requires very little maintenance. It's resistant to scratches, and dents, and will not fade over the years. It's a less expensive and less maintenance heavy option. Laminated flooring is sturdy in low to moderate traffic areas and are resistance to scratches, dents and stains. This ease of maintenance and low cost makes laminated wood floors a terrific option.
A laminated floor can come with thickness of the core varying from 6 mm to 12 mm. A thicker core is always preferable especially if you have a high traffic home or office. A thicker core will also make the floor resistant to swelling due to excess moisture, and will prevent buckling and bending out of shape of the floor. A thicker core also ensures that your floor sounds like hardwood when you walk on it. Laminated floors can be safely used in a kitchens and bathrooms, provided you take into account usability, traffic and core thickness of the floor. A laminated wood floor will give you the looks that you desire without the price tag attached. making it the perfect choice for homeowners who intend to sell their homes.
Hardwood flooring is undoubtedly matchless -- but it's also expensive and can be hard to care for deepening on the species of wood used. Combine the good looks of a hard wood floor with ease of maintenance and affordability that's unlike other wood floors. Laminated wood floors are the right choice if you want a versatile looking floor that's affordable. Hi there! Hoping to get an estimate for 3 specific projects (can be in phases or together in whatever way makes sense): 1) Recent water damage to oak floor in master bedroom, approximately 8 ft by 8 ft. Wood probably needs replacing. 2) Refinish of existing oak floor in great room, TV room and foyer (this is a new floor that was not finished correctly, needs to be redone for better surface and color) 3) Refinish wood on stairs. You were referred by a friend. Look forward to the estimate!

It's a condo, 1420 square feet. There are 1.5 baths, 1 kitchen and a fireplace. currently there is a mix of hardwood (very little), carpet, tile, and laminate. I want to redo the entire unit with hardwood. There are approximately 6 other rooms, 2 bedrooms, study, dining room, living room, sun room. I'm looking for an estimate on the labor, material, moving furniture, etc. included in installing new flooring. Thanks. Michelle
